![]() ![]() I was fighting not to lose my voice yelling across the table while describing actions in Scythe. It was hard to teach more complicated games to new players. Why were they killing half the lights at 6PM when the exhibit hall closed?īathrooms were hit and miss as far as cleanliness. The line to just checkout a game was super long, especially when the exhibit hall closed at 6PM. Popular titles seemed to be scarce even during the non-busy times. I found the board game library to be quite underwhelming. I had fun, but there were several issues in my experience. Honestly, it felt as if the convention has already outgrown itself. Overall, I am very excited this event has been added to our industry and I am going to be apart of it going forward. The enforcers were well informed and everywhere so if you ever had a question, someone was nearby to get you the info you needed. There was no insane line to get your badge. Names on the badges, better signage for the aisles so we can find vendors, and a bit more of a schedule from publishers that have events or day of stuff. One price and done.Ĭouple of things I would love to see improved. Unlike Origins where we pay $2 for pretty much everything you want to do can be annoying. Having a one price gets access to everything set up was really nice. There were lots of other celebrity signings and neat events. Very cool events - Having the live DnD with Critical Role, live show of Shutup and Sit down, live session with Rodney from Watch it Played was all very very cool. With all that said, the market that is next door to the convention center had tons of food stalls and the food was amazing! I didn't eat a single concession stand con burger the whole weekend because it was so convenient to just walk out the front door and have quality food right next door. Hotel employees didn't know what to do with board gamers playing games in the lobby until 2-3am each night. Surrounding restaurants were bombarded and had extremely long waits. The city of Philly wasn't exactly ready for us board gamers. People were chatting with their neighbors, inviting them over to play a game of something they just picked up. Open gaming was SLAMMED! They had a huge area to play games, it was probably half the convention hall and it was full of people playing games. I talked to several con goers that said this was their first board game con. The crowd was noticeably younger than a normal board game convention. The show floor was full on Saturday and Sunday, demoes at every booth were in full swing. Just got home from my trip to PAXU and I wanted to share a few things that really stuck out to me from the convention.Įnergy was amazing. ![]() ![]() r/tabletopgamedesign - Designer's subreddit.r/boardgameexchange - selling/buying/trading games.Game of the Week Calendar Related Sites & Subreddits The simplest use is to bold game names in your comment and add " /u/r2d8 getinfo" at the end of the post, but this post/sub has other features identified.
